Faust (Parts One and Two)

Description

German literary giant Johann Wolfgang von Goethe worked on his play Faust, his masterpiece, for more than sixty years. Considered to be Germany’s greatest contribution to world literature, Faust, ultimately divided into two parts, drew upon the legends surrounding a sixteenth-century sorcerer and Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus. Part One concerns the magician’s devilish pact with Mephistopheles, while Part Two relates Faust’s life at court, his romance with Helen of Troy, and his salvation. This edition, translated by Bayard Taylor, includes both parts. (paperback, 2018)
