The North Korean government announces that they have successfully tested a hydrogen bomb that can be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile. Seismic readings lead experts to estimate the bomb to have a yield of roughly 120 kilotons, making the detonation one of the most violent in history. For reference, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 amounted to roughly 45 kilotons in total.
