Canada’s deadliest modern mass shooting occurs as a gunman kills twenty-two people and injures three others across Nova Scotia. The gunman reportedly set fires as he committed the attacks and impersonated a police officer by wearing a police uniform and driving a replica police vehicle. Nova Scotia police were criticized for failing to alert the public to the danger and not responding to repeated reports concerning the gunman’s behavior and domestic violence. The perpetrator was eventually killed by police after the thirteen-hour rampage.
