More About James Noyes House
Although this beautiful house on Parker Road has a sign dating it to “1646,” it may actually have been built at a later time, perhaps in the mid-1670s. The James Noyes House is thought to be on, or near, the location where Reverends Thomas Parker and James Noyes lived after the town center moved north in 1646. They were two of the early colonial settlers and Newbury’s first minister and assistant minister from the earliest days. Parker was Rev. Nicholas Noyes Jr.’s first cousin, once removed; James was his uncle.
The James Noyes House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
