Follow the history of witches, witchcraft, and witch hunts through the ages. Our main presentation is an overview of the events of the Salem witch trials of 1692. The exhibit Witches: Evolving Perceptions explores the evolution of the witch over time, highlighting the European witch trials, emergence of the stereotypical witch, and the phenomenon of witch-hunting.

Designated Motorcoach drop zones are available across the street from the museum, and several designated one hour parking spots are across the Salem Common on Washington Square South. The City of Salem ordinance requires coach engines be turned off when parked anywhere in the city. Coach map and regulations are available by request.

Open year-round from 10AM-5PM daily and 10AM-7PM in July and August.

We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. We close at 3:00PM on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

During the month of January, we typically close for two weeks to maintain the museum. Please call before coming to visit us should maintenance take more than two weeks and for the specific dates of our closure.

Length of Stay

Please allow about an hour and fifteen minutes for the visit. Groups must arrive at the museum fifteen minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time.

Group Requirements

Twenty-five paying people are required to qualify for group rates which includes a complimentary ticket for the driver and tour director. We admit one complimentary chaperone for every 10 students (3-18 years). Reservations are required for group tours. Call or e-mail early to book.

Payment

Payment by company check, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or cash due at time of visit. For companies who send a minimum of 20 tours a year an admission charge account can be established.
