Follow the history of witches, witchcraft and witch hunts through the ages. Our main presentation is an overview of the events of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Witches – Evolving Perceptions is a provocative exhibit which presents the ancient pagan wise woman, the stereotypical witch, modern witchcraft and the phenomenon of witch hunts.

Museum Place Garage - 978.745.8120 (across from Visitors Center). South Harbor Garage - 978-741.2880 (across from Pickering Wharf) MBTA Garage, 252 Bridge St., Salem, MA Designated Motorcoach drop zones are available across the street from the museum, and several designated 1 hour parking spots are across the Salem Common on Washington Square South.  The City of Salem ordinance requires coach engines be turned off when parked anywhere in the city. Coach map and regulations available by request.

Hours

Open year round.10 am – 5 pm daily; 10 am to 7 pm in July and August.

We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day and we close at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

During the month of January, we typically close for two weeks to maintain the museum.   In 2019 we will close on January 7-11 and January 14-18. Please call before coming to visit us should maintenance take longer than anticipated.

Length of Stay

Please allow about an hour and fifteen minutes for the visit. Groups must arrive at the museum 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time.

Group Requirements

Ten paying people are required to qualify for group rates. 20+ people in group includes a comp for the driver and tour director. We admit one complimentary chaperone for every 10 students (6 – 18 years). Reservations are highly recommended and required for group operators. Call early to book.

Payment

Payment by company check, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or cash due at time of visit. For companies who send a minimum of 20 tours a year an admission charge account can be established.
