Attack on Venezuela

The United States launches a military strike in Venezuela that leads to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. Venezuelan and Cuban soldiers are killed in the attack along with a number of civilians. United Nations officials and international law experts say the actions taken by the United States violate Venezuela’s sovereignty and the Charter of the United Nations. President Donald Trump attracts further scrutiny by claiming that access to Venezuelan oil is a major factor is the raid.
