Brazil National Museum Fire

A major fire at the National Museum of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro destroys the overwhelming majority of the institution’s twenty million artifacts. The two-hundred year old museum, the biggest in Latin America, held invaluable pieces of the country’s cultural heritage with the extent of the damage being regarded as “incalculable.”
