Dismissal of Charges

The United States Justice Department requests, and is granted, a dismissal of pending charges against Donald Trump. Special Counsel Jack Smith abandons case against Trump for mishandling classified documents and attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Justice Department policy states that indicting or trying a sitting president would violate the Constitution and interfere with the functioning of the executive branch as sitting president’s cannot be charged.
