Sonya Massey, a black woman living in Springfield, Illinois, is shot and killed inside of her home by sheriff deputy Sean Grayson after calling 9-1-1 because of a suspected prowler. Grayson is later arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Protestors and activists argue for accountability and police reform as Grayson was released from the Army following serious misconduct and plead guilty twice to driving under the influence of alcohol before holding a position as a sheriff deputy.
